About Marine radios
27 MHZ MARINE EQUIPMENT
A communications range, under favourable conditions, of between 10 and
50 km a safety service provided by the RVCP and other marine rescue
groups, the advantages of being cheap and easy to install; but the
disadvantages of being subject to interference from atmospheric
and ignition noise (and on occasions, from distant radio
stations).
VHF MARINE RADIO EQUIPMENT
Communications range between vessels of up to 20 km and between
vessel and shore of 50 km and occasionally significantly greater a
safety service provided by limited coast stations operated by RVCP
and other marine rescue groups. It has the advantages of being
relatively inexpensive and provides the highest quality signal.
Suffers least from interference, a but has the occasional blind spots in
rivers and behind heavy vegetation.
